Pilates is a full-body exercise system

It focuses on the core while training the entire body as an integrated system.

The workouts improve strength, balanced muscle development, flexibility and range of motion.   This is the original method of Joseph Pilates. Joseph Pilates invented multiple pieces of equipment. Using all of the equipment and apparatuses with the correct sequencing for a full body workout that teaches the art of contrology, and the re balancing of the whole body. Pilates will help accelerate your training and recovery periods.

What is Pilates and why should I do it?

Pilates helps strengthen postural muscles  (a definite plus in this age of technology and it’s affects on our posture).  Breath is a crucial to a Pilates practice.  Mastering your diaphragm and core muscles leaves your feeling more energized but relaxed. 

You will truly learn what your core is….so much more than abdominals!  Pelvic floor health, spinal flexibility and strength and strong gluteal muscles all play a key role in pelvic stability, knee alignment, power when jumping, speed when running and much more.


Concentration is another key principle of Pilates.  That is why it is considered a mind-body workout.  One of your instructor’s tasks is to help you keep your mind’s focus on your body.  Early days will have you feeling like some serious multi-tasking is going on!  Consider Pilates moving meditation.
