Benefits of Being a Multi Modality Practitioner: The Understanding Behind Trainer and Massage Therapist Zoe MacDonald

There is something about having the movement of training and healing touch from massage that in my belief creates the perfect combination in recovery and prolonged body health.

Being a trainer gave me the knowledge and understanding of how the body’s movement patterns work and massage helped me to connect and visualize the unbalanced patterns resulting from poor posture and movements. New and even previous injuries are remembered by the body’s tissue and can later present themselves in other areas of the body from old tension and restriction from the old injuries.

But that’s not all, with the help of massage I can treat the areas through touch and release. And through my training expertise we can break through old/new tension, correct your posture with small cues and build strength in lacking muscles all with movement! There is great healing in healthy movement, but with movement comes responsibly in recovery. There are two ways negative tension builds in the body. One creates weak/tight muscle and the other strong/tight muscles. The difference between the two is the weak ones are from there area lacking movement creating restrictions not easily corrected by movement. And strong tight muscles are due to overuse in movement creating restrictions. Both needing release and proper mobility but one needing strengthening.

With massage and it’s direct and prevention treatment side by side with healthy movement and postural cues help the body learn to rebuild and restructure for better results in pain/tension release and a healthier body overall!

Naturopathic doctors often work with patients who have been told to lose weight but struggle to know what is right for them. As well at patients who suddenly start gaining weight without known cause or patients who are completing activities that usually allow for weight loss in the past but are no longer working.

Is it getting from one place to another? Is it sport specific? Should we have pain when we move? Are our bodies efficient at moving us?
